Living

Wheaton is a wonderful community, rich in traditional values. Our local housing market is stable and has consistently enjoyed appreciating home values. From charming starter homes to million dollar estates, Wheaton is a favored community for first time homebuyers, transferees and people choosing to move up in home value.

The City of Wheaton was founded in 1837 and 1838 by Erastus Gary and Jesse & Warren Wheaton. In 1867, Wheaton became the County Seat of DuPage County and continues to house the county's buildings and facilities. This municipality is also home to the Wheaton Public Library, a Top Ten U.S. Library, the Wheaton Municipal Band, and a vibrant, revitalized downtown.

Our school district is one of the best in the state. Wheaton's Community Unit School District 200 is a respected, comprehensive school district serving students from varied socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. This reputation is based on a strong academic achievement as measured by standardized tests, college entrance exams, and a high level of success in extra-curricular competitions. Eager inquisitive students, committed teachers and support personnel, and a high level of parent support and involvement form the foundation of the District's reputation for excellence.
