Historic Downtown
Boasting numberous newly renovated historic buildings, Wheaton's downtown remains the heart of the community. Throughout the year, the downtown is host to numerous community events such as Autumn Fest, Cream of Wheaton, Dickens of a Christmas, and the Fourth of July Parade. Other attractions that bring visitors to the downtown area are the French Market, Farmers Market, Municipal Band Concerts, and Classic Car Night. City Hall, the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Wheaton College, National-Louis University and the DuPage County Historical Museum are also housed in this historic area.
Danada Area
The Danada area offers a variety of outdoor shopping centers conveniently located along the intersection of Butterfield and Naperville Roads. Danada Square East, Danada Square West, Rice Lake Square, and Wheaton Town Square are interwoven to allow for a pleasant outdoor shopping experience. Danada offers a variety of retailers, inlcuding Whole Foods Market, Borders Books & Music, Stein-Mart, Frank Gironda Salon & Day Spa, and a ten-screen movie theater. Since convenience is important to residents and visitors alike, there are several other shopping areas throughout Wheaton. The intersection of North Main St. and Geneva contains Jewel Food Store, Buikema's Ace Hardware, an antique mall, and several restaurants. The College Avenue area offers a variety or services and restaurants geared towards college students. Near the intersection of County Farm and Roosevelt Roads are Cub Foods, specialty shops, and fast food restaurants.
